FAQ's?

How does a hydrotherapy pool differ from a public swimming pool?

The hydrotherapy pool at Clatterbridge Hospital is regularly maintained and the water temperature is heated to a constant temperature of between 33-36oC. This is checked daily and before each hydrotherapy session to ensure an optimum environment to exercise in.

Can I access the pool with mobility issues?

Access to the pool is either by a set on stairs with a handrail, or by a mechanical chair hoist.

What facilities are available for changing and showering?

There are changing room cubicles with individual showers around the pool area.  There are no lockers but we will make sure your personal belonging are safe throughout the duration of your treatment.

What do I need to bring with me?

Prior to starting your treatment block please ensure you have completed our Assessment Form:

On your first session you will need to bring with you appropriate swimwear, a towel and any medication that maybe required such as inhalers.

Please also read our Information Leaflet (below) before you come where you'll find more information about our service and what to expect from your treatment sessions.

You will also need to be able to get changed into your swimwear, dry yourself and get dressed again unaided.  If you need assistance with this please bring a relative or carer to your appointments.

Your hydrotherapy sessions will last half an hour.  Please arrive in time to change into you swimwear before your treatment, and allow time afterwards to change and have a short rest with a complimentary drink and biscuit.

If you are unable to attend your appointment for any reason, please contact us as soon as possible.

Sometimes it may be necessary for us to cancel your appointment if the physiotherapist is ill or if the pool is closed for any reason.  We will try to inform you if this happens in plenty of time.

What are the treatment options and prices?

All our treatments last 30 minutes and are run in blocks of 6 weekly treatment sessions.  We have 2 session options available: 1:1 (1 patient to 1 physio) or 2:1 (2 patients to 1 physio):

1:1 block of 6 treatments:   £270     (£45 per treatment)

2:1 block of 6 treatments:  £180     (£30 per person per treatment)

If you opt for the 2:1 treatment options please be advised there may be a short wait if we haven't got sufficient patients to fill the treatment session.

Alternatively if you would rather book a 2:1 or even a 3:1 block with 1 or 2 friends specifically, we would be more than happy to organise this for you.

Payment for the full block of 6 treatments is to be paid prior to the start of your first session either by cash or cheque (made payable to Wirral Hydro Physiotherapy)
